Compilations of 2019 Music

2019 comps

For the first time, this year (2020) I made FOUR compilations of 2019 music in a bunch of genres: Alight (mostly avant-garde jazz and ambient music), Between Breaths (mostly hip hop and international sounds), Sun (mostly electronic pop and soul), and Yellowjacket (mostly indie rock and DIY pop). Links to all four compilations can be found on my Mixcloud page and below. The cover art on each is an excerpt from an early 1900s German postcard, one of my collection of German anthpomorphic root vegetable postcards from the period.

If you click on the compilation title it will take you to a page with links to stream the compilations, as well as song lists for the compilations. Older “birthday” compilations of recent music are here, and here is a page with all my different music compilations.

AlightAlight

April 2020. This is a mix of mostly avant-garde jazz and ambient music with an engaging, mellow, and atmospheric feel. Click here to stream the comp and for the song list.

Between BreathsBetween Breaths

April 2020. This is an eclectic mix of international sounds mixed with hip hop, ending in drone. It is easily the most diverse of my mixes of 2019 music, but I think it still holds together for the adventurous and curious listener. Click here to stream the comp and for the song list.

SunSun

April 2020. This is a mix of mostly electronic-oriented independent pop, with some soul and hip hop. Easily the poppiest of my mixes of 2019 music, while still mostly much more distinctive, risk-taking, and experimental than more mainstream fare. Click here to stream the comp and for the song list.

YellowjacketYellowjacket

April 2020.  This is a mix of mostly indie rock and DIY pop. Of the four compilations of 2019 music, it is certainly closest in spirit to what I played most often radio djing in college and law school (if more put together). Click here to stream the comp and for the song list.
